Well, my co-presenter and I finally got round to it.
Technology did it’s best to conspire against us, and I do sound a little crackly for the first five minutes or so, but Cliff and I still managed to create thirty minutes of idle chat about topics as varied as murdering someone via Facebook, why discussing rape on a first date is a bad idea, and why you should keep your iPod handy in times of crisis. The good news is that Cliff sounds fine throughout, and I am sure he is the one you really want to listen to.

Even if you don’t enjoy listening to us, we had a laugh doing it and will probably do another one when we have solved our microphone issues. The bear in the Muppets was named Fozzie, how can you not remember that you uncultured barbarian?
You’re right about mobile phones though, my son went off to Uni a few weeks ago and despite being a 100 miles away is able to keep in touch and tap me up for money via mobile phone, email and instant messaging.
When I was his age there was a pay phone in the halls of residence and once a week I would save up my 10p’s and queue for an hour so I could speak to my mum and dad. The jury is still out in the Keef residence as to whether or not progress is a good or a bad thing.
Another major technical advance in that regard is the cash machine, when I was a student I would have to go the bank on Friday afternoon and cash a cheque for enough money to last me through the weekend and if I ran out, I would either have to cadge off other poverty-stricken students till Monday or face a stark choice between food and beer.
Life was lot harder back then.
