Feedback

Just a quick note to ask those of you that are still reading this, have you noticed any discernible change in the speed of the site recently?

It seems to be going much more slowly at my end, and I am in discussion with my hosting provider about it, but it would help if you could let me know your own experiences.

Is it the same as ever?  Quicker?  Slower?  You only read this through an RSS reader so you really couldn’t give a toss?

It does seem slower, especially to get on to the comments, I thought it was a dastardly plan to thwart us wannabe Angrys.

Much, much slower. I’ve gotten more than one “this server is taking too long to respond and the blogger is a slag” message.

I usually stick with GReader, so haven’t clicked through for months, and yes, it does seem slower. Also, it really doesn’t want to let me leave a comment for some reason.

Same as Katy, usually just GReader but popped over to see. Slower than I’d expect; images v slow and comment flaky.

I read on RSS normally so don’t give a toss – however coming to post a comment the page was quite slow to load…

  • Keef · September 23, 2008 at 2:06 pm

Loads slower yes, even had a number of abends especially from work where my internet acess is routed via the other side of the Pond
performance is better at home on Virgin Media but there has been a noticeable drop off in performance recently either way.

In fact it timed out whilst I was making the above post, midly surprised it appeared

  • carnalis · September 23, 2008 at 2:40 pm

    rss is very handy …

I’ve had no problems over on this side of the pond. The only thing that seems to have slowed is the rate of new posts… *hint*

  • Di · September 23, 2008 at 2:58 pm

    A lot slower.

I’ve always thought this was pretty fast, but last night your site was completely down for a while. That could be a hosting problem.

I can not believe I am about to say this:

Have you tried it in firefox and internet explorer?

  • Cliff · September 23, 2008 at 3:07 pm

OK, yeah. It took about 30 seconds for that comment to publish, which isn’t normal.

  • Brennig Jones · September 23, 2008 at 4:30 pm

I’m with them. Slower. I’ll stick with bloglines. But not angry about it. :)

  • Brennig Jones · September 23, 2008 at 4:31 pm

p.s. Point of reference. It took from Buckingham Palace Road to Marble Arch for that comment to publish.

Wow – I give you the chance to have a moan and look what happens.

There must be a reason people like you are drawn to this site…

My hosting provider and I are currently “investigating” options.

Slower than David Beckham in a Greek Philosophy class.

    Errors abound as stated above.

  • Angelalala · September 23, 2008 at 8:02 pm

    Bloglines :)

OK – The latest is that I am being moved to a ‘new’ server which should improve the situation considerably. They didn’t specifically say it was a server for super-popular bloggers, but they didn’t have to.

It’s likely to be a few days before that happens, so I will hold off making any more posts until that happens (and I had such a good story about Heathrow to tell you all as well. It will have to wait)

People in glass houses, Cliff – your site was down the other day and it took me a good few seconds to leave a comment just now…
