I am influencing society!!!

I recently wrote about an incident at my local DVD store, where I was finding it difficult to identify which films were the new releases, and how I ended up leaving said store without making a purchase after a brief, and thoroughly unproductive, exchange with a staff member.

Well, they have changed their policy!

I, Mr. Angry, have, through the power of persuasive argument and vituperative blogging, influenced a business to change its business model. The flyer available in-store reads…

“We are making changes here at Apollo [Angry's home town]. We hope this will lead to a better shop and the products you want!

Top Ten DVD’s - We have started to display the UK Top Ten rental DVD’s each week. This makes it easier to find the DVD’s youwant.

New This Week – Another dedicated display with the DVD’s we have received that week. Again we hope that this will make easier to locate new films each week.”

Obviously they do not mention me by name, probably as they do not want to pay me any business process consultancy fees, but I can forgive them for that. It is enough to know that deep down they are grateful for the virtual dressing down that I gave them.

This change in DVD rental services in my local town represents a seismic shift in the way the world at large works, and though obviously satisfying on a personal level, it is also just a little bit scary.

I have always thought I was destined for great things. Ever since I was a young and angry child I have felt different, as if I was better than those around me. Now I know that this feeling was something of a premonition for what my future held for me.

Do not worry though, I have seen enough films to realise that it is easy to abuse such power, and so I will be paying close attention to those things which receive my wrath in future. Like Spidermans Uncle told him, “with great power comes great responsible”. I would do well to remember that.

This of course means that I can no longer just post about things ‘willy-nilly’ without due consideration to the effect it might have on the world at large. I now have a Responsibility.

So, bearing in mind this new found power I have developed, and how I would like to do some good with it, is there anyone you’d like me to have a quiet word with?…
