I know that securing yourself a bargain can be extremely satisfying. It can also provide a sense of pride in your achievement, particularly if you’re the sort of person who doesn’t generally haggle, or thinks that saving a tenner is a tale worth telling the world about.
Trust me. It isn’t.
What I don’t understand is why you’d like me to guess how much your alleged bargain actually cost you? This is not an audition for The Price Is Right. I have not ‘come-on-down’. I actually have no interest whatsoever in how much the item cost you, or more importantly how much you saved. This merely an opportunity for you to show how clever you are, and I’m not about to help you in your quest. If you ask me, a genuine guess will not be forthcoming. So just don’t ask.
Today we had a lunchtime visit from a colleague based in our Edinburgh office, he’s just returned from a holiday in Turkey.
“Check out the new coat Angry. 3/4 length luxury leather, made to measure, with a lining of my choice”, he says loudly in earshot of the entire office, whilst mid-twirl. (more…)
