Hurrah! I am no longer living like a refugee in Victorian times and have hot water and central heating once again. He came at 8:15 this morning, just like he said he would and despite looking like a recently reformed football hooligan, he had it fixed and working by 10:30. All is well with the world.
Except for one thing.
As I’ve mentioned before, the boiler is only 11 months old, and is almost halfway through a 2 year warranty. The pump had gone and has been replaced by a nice new shiny pump (I assume it’s nice, new, and shiny as I never saw it). However it turns out that the nice, new, shiny pump is only warranted for the remainder of my original two year term. Surely that’s not right?
“So the new pump is covered for 2 years right?”, I enquired rather hopefully.
“No, just to the end of your warranty”
“But the last one only lasted 11 months”
“That’s very rare”
“I’m sure it is, but if this one lasts 13 months I’ll have to buy a new pump”
“Correct”
I decided at this point not to push it just in case he’s not actually reformed as is still an active member of some top flight ‘firm’. Thirteen months is a long time anyway.

congrats….. re the boiler, at least you got it fixed fast with out having to promise to call your first born after the plumber

aren’t a lot of medical doctors retraining as plumbers as the money is better, my cousin trained as a plumber to pay his way through law school in the states. …. if you can’t beat them ….. join ‘em
