Men are being advised to check that ‘yesh’ really means ‘yes’ when thinking of undertaking sexual activity with women who have been drinking. The Beeb says that the consent should be active not passive, i.e. your defence can’t be “she didn’t say no, therefore I thought I was in”

Well to me that’s nothing more than common sense. The problems occur when a woman says ‘yes’, but is then too drunk to remember it in the morning. On the rare occassion that’s happened to me I’ve always reminded them that the sex was so good that they passed out, but as I’ve generally been in a relationship with them at the time they see through the facade rather quickly.

I’ve been so hammered on occassions that I’ve slept with women I would normally cross the street to avoid, not something I’m proud of, but I’m not crying rape. Most adults of a consenting age have slept with someone they probably regret as a result of boozing, but this isn’t a crime, it’s purely a case of not being able to hold your booze. Waking up next to a bloke/bird who is a rough as a bag of spanners is not cause for calling the police, it’s merely time to cut down on the Bacardi Breezers. (more…)
